  • Enjoy coffee and breakfast while connecting with impact investing community members.

  • Speaker: Adam Rubel, NMIIC Advisory Committee Chair, HAI Fund

Welcome to the 5th Annual NMIIC Summit! The New Mexico Impact Investing Collaborative (NMIIC) is a network of investors, philanthropists, and community leaders working to align capital with values to drive positive social and environmental outcomes in New Mexico.  The NMIIC Summit provides an opportunity for participants to spend the day exploring how greater collaboration among all stakeholders in the New Mexico ecosystem can more effectively drive transformation in the state.

  • Speaker: Dr. Manuel Montoya, University of New Mexico

This opening session will set the tone for the day by exploring the broader forces shaping New Mexico’s economic and investment landscape at this pivotal moment. Dr. Manuel Montoya will offer a deep and provocative framing of how scarcity and possibility coexist in our current capital environment—drawing on global political economy, cultural context, and the lived realities of New Mexico communities. As the influx of federal and philanthropic dollars recedes, how do we reimagine the role of capital—not just as a resource, but as a relationship, a value system, and a vehicle for shared resilience? This session will invite participants to consider how narratives of scarcity often obscure pathways toward innovation, self-determination, and community-rooted wealth building. Grounded in both academic insight and New Mexico’s unique historical context, Dr. Montoya’s remarks will help participants think beyond transactional models and toward a more integrated, values-driven approach to investing in place. This is not just an economic moment—it’s a cultural and political inflection point.

  • Moderator: Mindy Gudmundson, Institutional Portfolio Manager, Impact Investing. RBC Global Asset Management

    Speakers:

    • Ron Homer, RBC Global Asset Management

    • Yi Wei, Momentus Securities

This session will highlight how RBC Global Asset Management and Momentus Securities are partnering to bring pooled capital strategies to life through LIFT NM. LIFT NM demonstrates how institutional capital can be structured to flow into affordable housing, small business, and other community priorities in New Mexico. Speakers will share both the promise and the challenges—where barriers still exist in getting dollars into community, and how pooled models can help reduce friction while expanding access statewide.

  • Speakers:

    • Nick Williams, Chief Financial Officer, Albuquerque Community Foundation

    • Russ Cummins, Executive Director/Investment Advisor, NMSBIC

    • Todd Clarke, Board Chair, Ventana Fund

    • Nicolas Rubio, Vice President, Avivar Capital

This session will explore how pooling impact investor capital can leverage public institutional dollars to scale community investment across New Mexico. These models demonstrate how aggregated strategies can reduce friction, provide scale, and expand access to capital across the state. We’ll highlight how this pool plans to mobilize resources in ways that align with community priorities and leverage public capital to achieve scale while meeting investor mandates—reflecting NMIIC’s growing focus on pooled capital strategies as a tool for community wealth building.

  • Speakers:

    • Adam Rubel, NMIIC Advisory Committee Chair, HAI Fund

    • Tomás Rivera, Executive Director, Chainbreaker Collective

In this fireside chat, Tomas Rivera of Chainbreakers and Adam Rubel, Advisory Committee Chair for NMIIC, will discuss the community land trust (CLT) model that Chainbreakers is advancing in Santa Fe—and what it reveals about building lasting community wealth in New Mexico. Together, they’ll explore how CLTs can serve as a foundation for self-determination, affordability, and economic resilience in the face of displacement and extractive development. The conversation will highlight the practical steps and partnerships needed to bring a CLT to life, the role of integrated capital in sustaining it, and how cultural identity and community agency inform every stage of the work. Participants will gain insight into how public, private, and philanthropic capital can align behind community-led solutions that keep wealth rooted locally. This discussion sets the tone for a day focused on turning community vision into tangible, long-term impact.
