Lifting New Mexico Communities

Following a series of funder surveys and roundtable discussions, NMIIC launched in 2016 as a Pilot Project funder collaboration dedicated to catalyzing and scaling impact investing in New Mexico. During the 18-month Pilot Project Phase (2016 Oct – 2018 March) supported by a dozen local, regional and national funders, over $6M were invested in 11 organizations by NMIIC partners with direct screening and due diligence support ($2.2M) or information facilitation ($4.1M) provided by NMIIC. The collaborative completed an evaluation of the pilot phase and launched the second phase of the place-based impact investing collaboration in May 2019 to further explore impact investing collaboration strategies in support of our mission - creating healthy, equitable, sustainable and economically vibrant communities within New Mexico. NMIIC’s place-based impact investing collaboration model was featured in recent Urban Institute report and practitioner brief.
